Israel Adesanya vs Anderson Silva Odds Preview – February 10 2019
The UFC may be returning to action this weekend, but their big return to pay per view will be taking place on February 10th at UFC 234. The event will feature some high profile talent, both from Down Under and around the globe.
Israel AdesanyaOne fight, in particular, that is a pretty appealing one to the masses is Israel Adesanya vs Anderson Silva. It’s a youth vs veteran type of fight which almost always makes for an intriguing dynamic, and it’s time to see how the bookmakers think it’s going to go down with some UFC betting odds.
The main fight on the card will take place, appropriately, in the main event. Robert Whittaker will be defending his Middleweight Championship against Ultimate Fighter winner Kelvin Gastelum. The UFC betting odds certainly favour the champion, but you just never know what is coming next in a Gastelum fight.
Rani Yahya, Dong Hyun Ma and Lando Vannata are amongst the other fighters on the card, but in truth, this show lives and dies by the strength of the main and co main events.
There’s a clear favourite in this fight and his name is Israel Adesanya, with the best industry odds coming from Betway who have him priced at 2/11 to come away win the win. As a contrast, Pinnacle Sports has the best odds for the underdog Anderson Silva at 93/20.
We’ve touched on the fact that this fight will pit a relative newcomer to MMA against a true legend of the sport, and it’s not exactly a stretch to say that’s an intriguing dynamic. Anderson has been through a lot over the last few years and he certainly seems to have lost a step, whereas Israel gets better and better every single time he’s out there.
Anderson has accumulated 34 wins throughout the course of his storied career with 26 of those coming via finish. Many of those, of course, were against world class talent too.
That’s in contrast to the 15-0 Adesanya who has put away all but two of his opponents. If that doesn’t yell efficiency, then we don’t know what does.
Other Betting Options
The standard UFC betting odds don’t take any Method of Victory props into account just yet, as we’re still a few weeks away from the big fight. Still, even with that in mind, it’s interesting to hear the thoughts of fans regarding how they think this fight is going to go.
While they’re known for being finishers of the highest quality, we wouldn’t suggest putting too much weight behind the idea that this won’t go the full distance. Israel and Anderson have both had fights in the last few years that have failed to live up to expectations, and that could happen again here.
They’ll likely be hesitant to pull the trigger for very different reasons, and sometimes, that can cause some problems from a pure entertainment stand point. If Israel gets cautious over a potential counter from the legendary Silva, then we could be met with a bit of a stand off.
Even so you’d imagine Adesanya will have enough in the tank to grind out a decision, but again, nothing is guaranteed in this game.
Some fans are already saying that this could be the year of the upset in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and that’s before we’ve even seen any fights play out. Anderson has been known to upset the established order in the past and he’s going to throw everything he’s got into this one, because who knows, it could be the last time we see him inside the Octagon.
If he had to stick our neck out on the line with the UFC odds in mind, then we’d have to go with Israel Adesanya via decision. Even so, though, every single and fan out there knows that this is the type of fight you’ll need to keep your eye on, mainly because the eventual process of scoring it could throw up a few surprises.
